Brek Shea Added to Squad

June 22nd, 2008 | By: Carter Daly | 2 Comments »

A little late on this nugget, but it deserves mentioning none the less.

Rumored Manchester United target Brek Shea has been added to the squad facing Barbados today. For me, this shoots the intrigue level of this game up a few notches. For one, I want to see why this kid is so highly touted. The fact that he has played so little in MLS yet has apparently warranted interest from Man U over a few youth performances as well as earned a call up from the full men’s team for a world cup qualifying match interests the hell out of me. Good for Bob for finally doing something outside the box. It will be interesting to see where the kid will play, as he has more possible positions than a Karma Sutra book. He is listed as a forward on the USA roster though.

Just some other food for thought, much in the way that Guzan has been called in for every game since his move to Villa fell through, could this be just the start of Shea getting call-ups for a English work permit…only time will tell.

i hope he doesn’t just sit on the bench, i’d love to see him play.

Adu and Beasley together up top?

That is pretty far out of the box as well.
