Marlon and I will be live blogging tonight’s match against Trinidad & Tobago. So please return to this very webspace just before game time and join us for what is sure to be another patented Bob Bradley thrillfest.

Oh, wait…

Good news.

I blame the lackluster performance in San Salvador entirely on the lack of a liveblog. There’s no other reasonable explanation.

Ray, that is right on.
Proble is we’re gonna get:
Ching
Donovan
Beas, Sasha, MB, Dempsey
Pearce (maybe Jonny B), Boca, Gooch, Granny Clampett

I do give Granny props though for being a badass and pushing Jozy out of the way so he could knock in the equalizer on Saturday.

Jozy was amazing. Donovan played so well with him. And, Bradley was terrific.

Offense seemed to open up a lot with Torres in the game on the left wing, Altidore and Donovan up top with Ching out of the game. Something to think about.

All of you who think that EJ would be a better option than Ching is smoking those rocks. EJ is possibly the worst player to ever be called up to the USMNT. Yes, he started his career out red hot, but since then, everytime he’s been on the field he’s been by far the worst in the team. He does NOTHING. He can barely get time playing for Cardiff. Eddie Johnson’s second touch is almost always a tackle. Ching at least does what he’s supposed to do. No one is asking him to pull off a bunch of step overs, beat his man, and score tons of goals. His whole job up top is to get on the end of all the long balls we insist on playing, and holding it up for the rest of the midfield to get forward, which is EXACTLY what he does. He’s a target forward. Did you see the flick on to Donovan on the first goal last night? Exactly what he’s supposed to be doing. Some guys are out there to play a specific role, and he is doing what the coach is asking of him.

First to Ramiro, both wings were open all game, the first two goals came on runs down the left side, and Hejduk was constantly in the attacking third down the right. Although I am coming to love Torres’ first touch. I think yesterday’s game shows what this team could be with attacking threats on the outside. For the past year or so, every opponent’s defensive strategy was not give Donovan space in the middle to create. With Donovan and Dempsey on the wings (especially if they have the freedom to switch sides) a defense can’t just close down the middle and render our attack sterile. With the creativity present in a lineup similar to what was played last night, there could and should be less reliance on the long ball, allowing Ching to be replaced by a striker whose purpose is scoring not holding and passing (or by Adu in an attacking mid position).

Well, if that doesn’t get Altidore in the lineup in Spain there’s a conspiracy in the works!! And anyone else notice that Ching was almost as good last night as Bradley thinks he is?! I just have to keep telling myself that was T&T and not a past-the-group-stage, World-Cup quality team. Completely agree with Jason too; the long-ball offense isn’t necessary with creative midfielders like Bradley, Donovan, and even Beasley coming up from left back. Just imagine if Kljestan can be consistent and we give Adu a fair shot. A lot to like…hopefully we qualify early and can expirement a bit more.
