Good News/Bad News From Rangers

April 8th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 14 Comments »

The good news: Maurice Edu headed in his first goal for Rangers, which provided to be the decided score in their 2-1 win over St. Mirren today. (Having trouble finding video evidence, so if anyone beats me to it, please drop the link in the comments)
The bad news: DaMarcus Beasley, who also got an usual [...]

The US MNT doesn’t need a striker. It has Michael Bradley.

March 14th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 7 Comments »

Michael Bradley continued his goal spree — which we last saw on the international level with his pair of goals in the win over Mexico — this time with another brace for Borussia Monchengladbach, helping them to defeat arch-rival FC Koln 4-2.
This brings Bradley’s Bundesliga goal tally to five for the season, four of [...]

The Not So Triumphant Return of Landon Donovan

March 11th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 4 Comments »

Landycakes is back with his bros in LA and from his very first words in the press conference shown above, you can just tell how PUMPED he is to be back, can’t you?
Also, I find it hilarious that Bayern gave him a watch as a parting gift.
So what are your thoughts on Landycakes’ brief [...]

Hey, remember that Eddie Johnson guy?

March 9th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 1 Comment »

Eddie Johnson, former soccer player and grown-ass man, finally scored his first goal for Cardiff City since leaving the MLS to join Fulham in January of last year. Johnson has 21 appearances this year (only six starts) and has really endeared himself to the Cardiff faithful, despite his lack of production. Soccernet’s Ravi Ubha has [...]

Maurice Edu Starts, Impresses for Rangers

March 1st, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 2 Comments »

As The Scotsman put it:
Rangers were without the injured Pedro Mendes, which allowed Maurice Edu a rare start in midfield. The American’s more prosaic qualities allowed Ferguson more freedom to break forward, the result of which was a goal for the Rangers captain, his first of the season.
Edu played the full 90 minutes in Rangers’ [...]

Of Swedes and Things

January 23rd, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 12 Comments »

Saturday night marks the first match of the new year for the US MNT as they take on Sweden (minus Zlatan Ibrahimov) at the Home Depot Center. Since this is just a friendly and right in the midst of regularly scheduled European league matches, we won’t be seeing the same full strength US squad we [...]

Glasgow is the place to be…or not

January 16th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | No Comments »

Sacha Kljestan has officially left the US MNT training camp to workout with Celtic for a week in Glasgow (he just arrived there today). All in all this sounds like a fantastic opportunity for Sacha and I think it could be the next great step in his career if he impresses the Scottish giants this [...]

Landycakes Scores

January 13th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 6 Comments »

Assist in his first match, stoppage time goal in his second. Not a bad start for Landon Donovan with his new club. Bayern Munich played another friendly yesterday and this time Landycakes sealed a 3-1 victory for his side. His goal is at the end of the video above.

Optimism in ‘09

January 11th, 2009 | By: Carter Daly | No Comments »

Welcome to the New Year! (Brooks note: apparently Carter has been in a alcohol induced coma for the last week and a half…which is only surprising because they usually last longer for him. Zing!)
For those of you keeping an eye on our Yanks Abroad, your probably thinking it’s about time for a new beginning of [...]

Jozy Staying at Villarreal for Remainder of Season

December 1st, 2008 | By: Carter Daly | 3 Comments »

The long awaited loan move for Jozy Altidore to a possibly lower on the table side in La Liga should be waited for no more. It’s not happening.
The combination of an injury bug that just won’t seem to stay away from the Villarreal striker contingent, coupled with impressive play when he sees the field, [...]
