USA beats Brazil

July 7th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 10 Comments »

That’s really all that needs to be said to garner attention. I don’t care if we are talking a U-10 American girl’s rec. side beating one from Brazil; that is still impressive. But we are talking the U-20 World Cup here, a tremendous achievement.
First and foremost I must say that in level of [...]

Don’t Focus on the Bad

July 5th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 3 Comments »

Copa America is done, with nothing to show for it.
Really nothing. Charlie Davies sorta kinda impressed me for a bit tonight, but I just haven’t seen enough. No young guys really stepped up. That is most dissapointing. No one even really impressed at this “tryout” of ours. Only two [...]

The Best Kept Secret: Lee Nguyen

June 25th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 3 Comments »

Let me be (probably not) the first to introduce you to Lee Nguyen. Prior to a ten minute run in the China friendly earlier this summer, most of you probably had never seen the kid touch the ball, save of course that youtube clip of his PSV appearance.
If you follow US soccer [...]

Gold Cup Final Review

June 25th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 1 Comment »

And would ya look at that, a come from behind win against Mexico.
Here’s a nice little factoid that should make you smile:
Sunday’s win was the Yank’s first ever come from behind win over Mexico.
Dominance over CONCACAF - check.
With all that said, what a nerve racking final. All I can remember thinking after [...]

Checking In; Tidbits for the American Fan

April 15th, 2007 | By: Connor Fabiano | 8 Comments »

It’s been a while since my last post so I thought I’d check in and go over what’s been going on for the past two weeks. To be honest…not much. The next game isn’t until June 2 (against China in San Jose) and as such we won’t see any camp action until mid-late May (another month at least for the next MNT roster folks, sorry). A few things have occurred though, and are of interest.

New Jersey for the Men’s National Team

March 21st, 2007 | By: Connor Fabiano | 13 Comments »

US Soccer and Nike have released the new 2007 US MNT Third Jersey today. It’s strikingly blue with white stripes. Of course you’ll also find the traditional Nike logo and US Soccer crest.

I don’t like it. I wouldn’t call it extremely ugly, but I don’t think it’s as attractive as the first and second jerseys. Furthermore, it reminds me of an American football/basketball referee uniform (I’ve never been a fan of pin-stripes). I prefer the plain blue training jersey of the same color. If I was Sunil Gulati (or whoever makes the call - by the way never let an economics professor make fashion advice) I would just tell the men to keep their training jerseys on as they take the pitch.

Anyway, the Men’s National Team will wear their new uniform for both of their upcoming March friendlies - the first of which is this Sunday in Florida against Ecuador.

I’m interested to hear your opinions on the jersey.

Stay tuned (or just don’t delete me from your RSS reader) for an update on the March training camp later today.
