What About Bob? (for national team coach)

December 8th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 6 Comments »

Word is that Bob Bradley will be named interim coach. How long that interim lasts is anyone’s guess.
But interim shminterim… if Bradley gets the job he may as well be given it full time. What’s the point in waiting six months to hire a coach and then making half a decision?

Klinsmann Pulls Out

December 7th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 10 Comments »

Fairly official word is that Jurgen Klinsmann has withdrawn from the (extremely slow) race to become the next US coach.
Seems a US Soccer official let this info slip to an AP reporter on condition of anonymity, with an official announcement expected very soon.
Seems Klinsmann and US Soccer failed to reach agreements over both how much [...]

Not that it’s a big shock, but nice to know we haven’t been imagining the whole thing:

Klinsmann Ponders Offers From US and Mexico…

October 8th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 3 Comments »

Wow. According to one of his advisers, Jürgen the German has received offers from both the US and Mexico.
Roland Eitel told Bild am Sonntag newspaper Klinsmann was still unsure what his future held, but this guarantees that if he chooses either the US or Mexico (and let’s be fair, both have their advantages) the losing [...]
