Boca Signs With French Club Rennes

USA Captain Carlos Bocanegra has officially inked a three year deal with Ligue 1 club Rennes, and it’s a good thing too. Having your captain be clubless is not exactly a great reflection on a “growing soccer nation”, so it’s good to end that chance. For real though, this is actually a pretty nice move for Boca. For one, he won’t be in the muck that is the English Championship. Rennes are in the Intertoto cup and have a chance to qualify for the UEFA, so Carlos could get some big tournament experience, as well as bring a new style of play back to US MNT camps, as yanks in France isn’t exactly a regular occurrence. When you enter a World Cup, you want your players to have experienced it all on both the club and international level, if Boca moving to France is another step toward that, than it’s a good move.
Thoughts on the move?
