Hey, remember that Eddie Johnson guy?

March 9th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 1 Comment »

Eddie Johnson, former soccer player and grown-ass man, finally scored his first goal for Cardiff City since leaving the MLS to join Fulham in January of last year. Johnson has 21 appearances this year (only six starts) and has really endeared himself to the Cardiff faithful, despite his lack of production. Soccernet’s Ravi Ubha has a great roundup of Yanks abroad that includes the follow quote:

“It couldn’t have happened to a nicer man,” [Cardiff manager Dave] Jones told reporters. “You could see by the reaction of everyone, the fans, the players, the staff and Eddie himself, just what it meant. Eddie has worked really hard in training, and in the last two matches, and this goal was things coming to fruition for him.”

Though one goal isn’t likely to make Fulham reconsider his loan, it’s nice to see some signs of life from a once kinda promising player.

Anyway, instead of recapping everything on the familiar and forgotten (Gabe Ferrari!) names included in Ubha’s report, I suggest you just go over to Soccernet and check it out.

Jemal Johnson is intriguing.

Just looking at some clips, you can see that there’s some skill. Might as well throw him in the mix for that 4th striker spot with Davies, Frankencoop and dare I say…Eddie Johnson?
