Jozy Loan Possibly Still in the Cards

November 4th, 2008 | By: Carter Daly | 3 Comments »

It’s a slow news week around here so far, but there is still some Jozy talk. The fall out from being the first American international to score a goal in La Liga seems to be landing him some more loan conversations. Here’s what Jozy says on the latest:

“I don’t know, I definitely think it’s a possibility… I think they’re probably considering it… I am happy to be here helping out. I know whatever they choose it’s in the best interest for me.”

Although it seems to get brought up just about every two weeks, I don’t know if Villarreal has the guts to ship him out. Their frontline is more fragile than a china cabinet, and with all of the competitions that they are in (La Liga, CL, Copa del Rey..), it is hard to see them risking it. Especially if Jozy continues to make strides as he has been doing.

With that said, it will be interesting to see the club’s decision once Nihat finally gets healthy. Either way, it looks like Jozy will be making some kind of an impact wherever he goes.

I truly hope Jozy gets to stay with Villarreal as it seems he has made giant strides since moving to spain. I feel like Jozy is one of the first Americans who moved over seas at a young age and was able to ride the momentum and continue to make benches especially considering he’s playing in La Liga. I understand that Villarreal has had injury issues but you don’t make benches and see minutes just because of injuries, you have to show something, and it seems like Jozy has done just that. His progression has been steady and promising and I think a loan would only hold back, and possibly derail, all of that. Let’s hope he can find some more minutes and continue to impress.

I agree GS Jozy has shown what he is capable of doing whenever he is on the pitch. He has the flash that LaLiga fans want to see and he is only 18,it can only get better for American soccer if he continues to do what he does daily.

i would hope jozy has done enough to impress villarreal. hopefully he will be on the bench every other game or so, which is good enough for me. with the frequent injuries mounted on villarreal’s strikers, i’m sure that, even when they are healthy, the manager will give jozy some playing time just out of precaution of nihat or someone else getting reinjured.
