35 Player Pool Won’t Be Announced
One eagle eyed World Cup Blog reader (thanks Mike!) spotted this hidden in the USsoccer.com match report from last nights game:
“U.S. Soccer is no longer planning to announce a 35-player pool on April 12 as originally announced.”
I take this to mean either Arena will write down 35 names but they won’t be made public knowledge, or Arena has changed his mind and will just name the 23 plus alternates on May 2nd without messing aorund with a 35 player pool.

the 35 player pool was a confusing ploy at this point to me. who was Arena kidding? There’s 3 or 4 players realistically on the bubble at this stage, and if it was just a way to cover for injuries, etc then there was no reason to make the alternates part of any official list.
