Coaching Change at M’gladbach Looks Good for Bradley

As you may or may not have heard, after their abysmal free fall to last place in the Bundesliga, Borussia Monchengladbach’s manager Jos Luhukay was fired last week. In most cases these types of manager firings early in a season work to hurt the chances of Yanks Abroad to see the field for their new club teams. With Bradley just signing over in Germany and already not seeing too much pitch time under Luhukay; his firing can only mean that things will get worse for Bradley right?
Wrong. The man that will be replacing Luhukay at the helm of the sinking ship that is Monchengladbach is their sporting director Christian Ziege. The same Christian Zeige that fought so hard to bring Bradley to M’gladbalch in the first place. Things could look very good for Bradley when he returns from national team duty in DC.
“I think it will be a good thing for me because, at the end of the day, he was the one who really, really pushed hard to bring me to the club. I think he has confidence in me and he likes the qualities that I can bring to a team. So I am hopeful that, when I get back, there are good opportunities. We need to go on a big run and I hope to help turn things around.”
A big run is exactly what needs to happen if Bradley’s new squad has any hopes of staying up in the Bundesliga past this year. But for now, things look good on the playing time possibilities front for Bradley. Let’s see if he can help get this team out of the relegation zone before it’s too late.

More playing time is great, obviously. But it comes with a big pill to swallow: Bundesliga 2?

I said this in an earlier post, but if he’d stayed at Herenveen he’d be in the UEFA Cup group stage right now.

Yeah I saw that comment Marlon. I was going to put it up for a second round of commenter counterpoint, but no one opposed that claim. I guess that says a lot.

It has always amazed me how managers can put teams out there that don’t include their best players. I understand most european managers are quite tactical and believe even if they don’t use their best players they are giving themselves the best chance of winning…but sometimes, especially when you’re getting spanked by the competition, you need to just put your best players out on the field.
Let’s hope that if Michael gets some playing time he performs well because if he can be part of the squad that makes a huge come back in the bundesliga it will really help his image.

seriously. when you’re getting destroyed by the competition, what do you really have to lose?
