DMB Wants To Know

June 7th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 7 Comments »

DaMarcus Beasley is getting impatient, not knowing where he’ll be playing against the Czech Republic, if at all.

“Right now people [on other teams] know where they’re going to play, whether they’re starting,” Beasley said on Monday. “That kind of sets guys’ minds at ease — whether you’re going to play or not going to play. Even if you’re not in the first 11, at least you know you’re going to be in a reserve role and you can accept that and you can move on. A lot of people are still fighting for spots and still trying to break into the lineup.”

“It’s a little irritating not to know, but I think Bruce is going to have some decisions to make.”

“If we trained with our first 11 for, say, a week or five days and now it’s our first game, that would be better to help our first 11 to see what we need to change or do this or do that.”

What do you reckon? I think DMB gets moved to the right side.

So Beasley now knows what’s best for the team. This is whining, pure and simple.

Quote from the article: “Coach Bruce Arena will not announce his starting lineup until an hour or two before kickoff and, if recent history is any indication, he doesn’t plan to tell the players until two or three days beforehand.”

What does Beasley expect, Arena to alter his s.o.p. to satisfy one whiny out-of-form player?

I read this article a day or two ago and it really irked me.

Seamus, my man, you’re spot on: What does Beasley expect, Arena to alter his s.o.p…?

At this point, I’d be content with the following line-up -
———McBride———
Convey — Reyna — Donovan
——–Mastroeini——–
Lewis—Gooch—Pope—Dolo
———-Keller———-

Leave Beas on the bench. He’s critically out of form anyway.

Yes! That is THE starting XI IMO.

You would be content with 10 players on the field. I like your lineup with Johnson also up top.

Errr….Brad’s right (Thanks).

In my rush to try to make my line-up look pretty (what, with the dashes and all), I left Johnson out.

Of course, I’d prefer 11 men to 10. So, without further ado, here’s my edited line-up.

—McBride—Johnson–
Convey–Reyna–Donovan
——Mastroeni——-
Lewis-Gooch-Pope-Dolo-

I think they’ll start DMB wide right with O’Brien starting on the left and Reyna and Donovan in the middle. Then if we need offense they can bring in Convey for O’Brien and if they need to protect a lead can bring in Mastroeni and push DMB back to the left.
