Donovan Answers Fans Questions

Via the magic of the internet Landon Donovan answered readers questions over at the ESPN site on Thursday.

Highlights iclude:

On always being asked about Leverkusen: “It’s over. It was an interesting part of my life and I’m glad it happened but that doesn’t mean I want to talk about it anymore. “

High exepctations for MNT: “That should be expected now. You can’t live as the underdog your whole life. If we want to get better we have to play with those expectations and still win.”

Favourite position: “In a perfect scenario I would like to play behind two frontrunners. That being said, I’m comfortable playing anywhere. Bruce knows best where I should be on the field in any given game. “

Returning to Europe: “Certainly wouldn’t be for awhile but if the chance came up, I think England would best suit me. “

Mandy Moore or Jessica Alba?: “How about Jessica’s face and Mandy’s body?”

The next big US star is… “Clint Dempsey has a good chance if he keeps going. Eddie Johnson is a guy that could be one of the best we have had if he has the right mind set.”

LD vs DMB in a fight: “He would whoop my ass.”

Clint Dempsey’s rap career: “He’s not that bad actually.”

The receding hairline: “I”m going to all measures to keep it. I use a product to keep what I have so it doesn’t get worse. Look man, if it gives people something to make fun of me for, that’s’ fine. It is what it is. “

Alecko Eskandarian’s Red Bull spitting celebration: “I thought it was great. Whether you like it or not, it was entertaining to watch. We don’t want to become lifeless robots on the field, all interchangeable. You want personalities.”

USA’s current domination over Mexico: “We have earned it. Everytime we play them, people make a big deal of it. We have proven we are better time and time again. I want to say we have won 6 or 7 of the last 8 or 9 we have won. We haven’t give up a goal that wasn’t in Mexico City in a long time. We’ve earned it.”

Landon Donovan: I don’t hate him. He’s just brainless. Unfortunately for him everyone else is going to jump on the soccer bandwagon and he’ll be left by himself. He’ll have to sleep in the bed he made. ”
