I think CONMEBOL’s complaints are completely justified. This tournament was a big deal in South America and the US should have considered it an honor to be invited. First they turn it down, Costa Rica gets excited about it, and then they turn a 180 and bump Costa Rica off the list… Only to send an unproven squad that had no business being in any tournament. I understand that it was a great opportunity to get a young team some experience, but save it for a friendly. The US showed absolutely no respect for CONMEBOL, Venezuela, Costa Rica, or any of the other teams competing.

Even the fact that we couldn’t catch the games on anything but GolTV or Fox Sports Espana – Sky Sports in Europe covered the games more thoroughly than the United States. What kind of support for a national team is that?

I think you can get rid of those “what ifs”. Adu was superior to Pato in every imaginable way (and not just Adu, either).

If Adu is NOT invited to play in Europe when this is over, then there’s simply an anti-American bias at work. Period. He’s been scintillating.

What your opinion on CONMEBOL’s complaints that the U.S.A. didn’t send it’s best team (or even a team that could compete) to the Copa America?

After all, Costa Rica’s MNT was eager to participate (and would have sent a full team) but was prevented by the U.S.’s late entrance…
