Dunivant Out Too
Todd Dunivant has a hip injury that will keep him out of the game against Poland. You’ve got to feel for Dunivant, this was the big chance to prove himself against decent opposition. This is a massive blow to his World Cup chances.
No word on a replacemnt yet. If Arena goes like for like he might give Heath Pearce a second look, but it almost doesn’t seem worth it now the coach has established a preference for Dunivant.

I hope he chooses Pearce but I get the suspicion he’ll go with Hejduk. He is like a bad rash that you just can’t get rid of.

I too am rooting for Pearce, but I think he still has a lot to prove after the Guatamala match.
Concerning Mr. Hejduk, I’ve mostly gotten used to him. Andrea Canalas, at ESPN, evaluated Hejduk’s performance against Canada: “nonstop effort, a spray of strange passes, dogged defense, and an opportunistic spark.”
That’s pretty much what you can expect from the guy. In my opinion, he has tightened up his defense from WC’98 and WC’02, and his forays into the attack during the 2006 friendlies have really seemed to cause problems for our opponents’ defenses.
