Positions: CB (probably his best position, though he’s maybe a little light. He’ll never beat Onyewu in an arm-wrestle.) LB (can definitely do it, has a sweet left peg, but maybe not quick enough to be Roberto Carlos)

Arena says: “Carlos is one of those guys that is a difficult decision. We have to predict if he’s healthy, and this (selection) can be scrutinized. Here’s a guy who has played a lot of games in the Premiership.”

Assessment:Probably won’t start if everyone is healthy, but can comfortably fill in at left bacl or central defence. Looked solid against Venezuela in the Send-Off Series, but took things a little too literally and got his marching orders towards the end.
