Pope Should Be Fine
Looks like Eddie Pope should be fine to play against Italy, broken thumb or no broken thumb.
X-rays are being taken, but they’re only precautionary.

Great, Eddie Pope is back. I was wondering which defender would be outmuscled for an easy head-in during the next US match.

Well, he’s ok to show up on the pitch….whether he is going to play is an open question.

Pope definitely got outmuscled, but where was Gooch?
I thought Gooch was supposed to handle the 6-8 Koller, which would make a lot more sense given Gooch’s age and size.
Not to mention Keller’s pinpoint punts, Lewis’s defensive instincts, and Mastroeni’s raw speed.
It’s easy to point fingers and complain, but harder to accept responsibility and find solutions.
If the US chooses the former, saturday could be a LONG game.
