Great news for US soccer fans and oversized eyebrow lovers everywhere as Captain Claudio Reyna made a welcome return to first team action this weekend, playing 81 minutes for Manchester City in their 2-1 win over Sunderland.

It is amazing to think that after all these years our WC hopes still depend so much on Claudio Reyna. It seems like he is the only playmaker at midfield that this country has ever had. Kind of scary counting on a guy his age and with his injury history.

That’s true Phil, we’ll have to hope for the best in Germany from him health-wise.
O’Brien could have been (still could be?) the heir apparent in midfield had he not been decimated by injuries. He was also a unique talent, though perhaps not on par with Reyna…
