Scrimmage Highlights
Great highlights from Cary, as three different squads (green, red, yellow) take turns to compete in some pretty high tempo 6v6 scrimmages.
In an interesting twist, whichever of the three teams isn’t playing spread themselves around outside the touch lines, actively playing the ball back into action whenever it goes out of play and ensuring there’s always a pass available for the attacking team. This way, there’s no throw ins, corners or goal kicks and no opportunity for rest. Seemingly this is all part of the high tempo gameplan we’ll be taking to Grermany.
It’s obviously foolish to take too much from a few minutes of highlights, but Eddie Johnson, DaMarcus Beasley and Clint Dempsey all look pretty impressive.

Thanks daryl – that was a great link!
USA was one of the ‘running’ teams in the last world cup, seems like BA has similar plans this time around. And its a great strategy IMO – we should press home the advantages that we have.
In the absence of a Ronaldinho or a Messi, it is best to counter that kind of talent with sheer hard work, texbook skills, team coordination and some extra stamina.

I run this drill as 3v3 for 12-14 y/o boys that I coach. The kids absolutely love it! My favorite thing about it is the tempo. It effectively sneaks great cardio work into a fun scoring/simulation drill.

I agree that Beasley, EJ, and Dempsey looked good, in those clips that USSF posted. Props to USSF for putting so much good multimedia content from the Cary camp on their site!

Green was the winner. Red second. Yellow third.
So who were the main players on the green team?
Also, Howard looked pretty solid.
