Team USA Will Have Heightened Security

May 5th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 3 Comments »

Word has it that extra security measures will be taken to protect the USA team during the WorldCup. Perhaps unwisely, the Associated Press made one of these measures public and now everyone knows the USA team bus will not have a flag painted on the back, but will instead be “predominantly blue in colour.”

Despite this slightly bizarre security leak, it seems that – as in 2002 – the USA will be one of the most heavily guarded teams. I can’t help thinking that no matter what extreme security measures are taken, John O’Brien is still going to get himself injured.

C’mon leave poor JOB alone already. There’s plenty of other players prone to injury to make fun of like Reyna, Pope, and Olsen. :)

Obviously, the heightened security measures worked in Korea– JOB was one of only 3 guys to play every minute of the finals in 2002…

Hopefully none of our injury prone players will pull a “Rooney” in any of the upcoming friendlies…
