Is this still open?

Just want to say a nice cheerio to Bruce Arena and to let him know that Australia is still in the World Cup.

You boys back home yet?

Do we Aussies care what he said about us? Just ask the team. They were begging to have the US in our group (Of course, that was just so we'd have a certain win up our sleeves).

Go back to the games where you can call yourselves automatic world champions.

Probably won't pick the right flag fom my IP but I can assure you that I am a 100%, football-loving AUSTRALIAN.

I would just like to reiterate that Bolivia sucks at everything.

Any MLS team could easily defeat "the Strongest," which is a misnomer of a name if ever there was one!

The big positive out of this: any fledgling interest in soccer in the U.S. will tank as soon as word of this loss spreads. Soccer blows.

I think going back to being the "underdog" does work well for us. My theory is that the lack of football worship here means that our guys aren't tested for that kind of pressure all this pre-WC hype brought. Donovan is clearly talented but you can just tell he's not the kinda guy who wants to step up when he sees 10 stories tall banners of himself unfurled in Times Square... "Soccer" is still a sport for preppies and immigrants (unfortunately most of the really good ones don't come:)here, so we need more time before futbol becomes bling.
I just heard today that in an Italian press conference only one (azzurri) player could name a single player on the US squad... I think that's a good sign.
Bruce is the one who scouted Italy, so we'll know for sure if he's done his job or not when it's over. I'm not sure what I make of him... I thought the friendlies we played in the runup (besides Germany, and we were missing a lot of starters) were poor choices and that the game against Czech is the beating we should've taken before the tournament began. CONCACAF isn't a good testing ground (as Mexico's Lavolpe clearly knew) and Morocco, Jamaica, Venezuela, etc. were never going to prepare us for Czech's physical game...
DMB looks like he needs to be reintroduced to the soccerball, but I was shocked to hear Arena criticize him publicly... The goofy asst. coach (Mooch) seems pretty affable, maybe he and Frankie Hejduk can get everyone to hold hands and be happy.
