The United States U17s Advance to the Knockout Round

After a tough start against Spain the United States’ U17 side was able to stack up 1 – 0 wins against Malawi and the United Arab Emirates. The United States will advance after securing second place in their group. A skillful side that is able to move the ball around and keep possession, the United States kids have drawn criticism from some for lacking a clinical finishing edge, but they seem to excel at moving the ball around (something we haven’t been able to say about many US sides). The midfield pairing of Luis Gil and Marlon Duran have impressed and hopefully these two and other standout players like goalscores Jack McInerney and Alex Shinsky will continue to shine.
The United States Men’s U17 side will take on Italy on Wednesday, November 4th at 10 am.

SP you are 100% correct, but the picture loader was down and there were no other good photo candidates in the archive.

Marlon, etc. — Why did coach Cabrera replace his captain? Is Perry injured, or did he really underperform vs Spain as alleged by the ESPN reporter?

Uploader now fixed, so I changed the picture.

Well…Wilmer will be raked over the coals without doubt following his team’s inability to close out when they seemed to be the better team in ball possession and movement. However, the opposition Azzuri were the team that finished out the US chances once again. Jack McInerney will be regarded as having “disappointed”, but how can you apply that tag, when so much was placed on the shoulders of just one young forward to provide the USA’ offense? No, the biggest disappointment will be considered the coaching decisions prior to the tournament.
