US Beats Guatemala 4-0
The US national team continued its strong run of play against another weak opponent topping Guatemala 4-0 in Frisco, Texas. After dumping on Ben Olsen in my earlier post today, the guy turns around and of course scores. He still doesn’t belong in Germany, but I’m happy to see him score in what hopefully will be his final international cap. The story of the game wasn’t just Olsen, but the competition at the forward position with the picture further muddied as to who should be given a ticket to Germany
Brian Ching, Eddie Johnson and Chris Klein all made a statement to Bruce Arena by scoring goals. Klein also racked up two assists in what has to be one of his better performances wearing the Red, White and Blue. Josh Wolff did not do any damage and only played the first half.
After today’s showing, I think The Bruce still has to be looking at a good number of domestic-based players to make the final 23 for the World Cup. The young guys for the most part have aquitted themselves well in racking up three wins and a tie thus far this year. The March 1 friendly against Poland should give us a better idea of where the team stands, but so far things are looking pretty darn good.

4-0 scoreline…that will happen against the Czech’s on June 12. Rosicky will no doubt be hurt again and Koller will not be 100%. Anyhow, our MLS players are looking really sharp, and the fact that 80% of our players get this whole spring off is delightful. Brazil in the round of 16!!

It was cold out there but i think the guys did well. Ben played great and so did Klein. Ching will have plenty of time to get used to Houston as he will still be sitting at home.
Johnman says “Brazil in round of 16.” Is it possible that we come out as top seed and see France or Ukraine in quarterfinals?
