It's a shame the way the US Ghana game 2-1 ended the US teams chance at advancing into the next rounds in this years World Soccer Championship Match. I believe a lack of US sponsored suport i.e. Cable and TV news networks shows a complete ethnocentric bias on behalf of football, basketball and baseball egos. Soccer is international! Get your pea brains out of your US only minded focus people. Let's start supporting the sport in schools and for all ages-its a much better sport for cohesive team building than any of the previously mentioned sports and the 2010 team deserves a boost in order to redeem ourselves amongst the rest of the entire world! Bruce Arena needs to go onto other things- lets get a European Coach and start focussing on fielding a younger more agressive team now--in order to blow the Europeans away in 2010. Its high time they stop saying the USA can't play soccer and start saying WOW-were we ever wrong!

It makes me laugh to read that espn had the biggest rating this year with the World Cup. ESPN must have some crappy numbers if the WORLD CUP only brought in 2.4
but then again they mostly show crap. Like 1 million lusy MLB games that past the first pitch I'm falling asleep, not to mention golf, tennis, bowling, fishing, marbles, jax, well you get the point. PLan old crap.
Then to not even show the national anthems of the countries
that are about to play. Lusy commentators that always down play the other teams.
But whats really funny is to think that they think that the USA team is ranked 5th in the world. FIFA scores teams by the wins the teams have but when you play against teams like Mexico, Canada, El Salvador, Panama, Costa Rica and so on your chances
of winning are greater then if you play lets say.....Italia, Spain, England, Germany, France,
well you get the picture. So FIFA
should stick there numbers up the wahzoo because they get stupid people to beleive in the tooth fairy.

It was a devastating loss. I will be watching closely as far as our game against Italy. I think we can pull out an upset. I think soccer would be more interesting if they allowed fights...hahaha

Let 'em go UFC if they get pissed off! And US fans should be able to kick european asses as well, especially the French! Anarchy!!!

Cheers!!!

jib,

dont feed the trolls.

Actually I think it'd be funny to get the "USA sucks, you don't know anything about football!" trolls against the "Soccer sucks, what a sissy sport!" trolls. But it probably wouldn't make for a great blog thread.

jericoone: I agree, soccer is a THINKING man's game. Definitely not for you. Are you trying to prevent Americans from watching the soccer they love, buddy? Control issues, friend? It's still a free country. Soccer rocks!

hey, maybe it's just me, but i don't really care about the announcers--i almost don't even hear them (maybe i've just learned to tune them out). probably, i just have extremely low expectations, but i'm thrilled that every single match is televised live. i think the loss won't affect ratings for this saturday and i think we'll be suprised by the US team--they have nothing left to lose but pride itself.

dont feed the trolls.

the ratings are a good sign for soccer: increased media and public scrutiny will hold players and coaches more accountable for their performances.

it also shows a significantly increased interest in teh sport.
