USA on GMA

Some of the team were on Good Morning America on Thursday, click the image to see the footage.

Good exposure for the lads. Donovan points out “We haven’t had this before. 2002 wasn’t like this and now we’re on Good Morning America before we leave.” Good example of heightened expectation, the weatherman doing the interview (!) points out that USA is in the top 5, and then mentions that after quarterfinals in 2002 we’ll be looking to go one better.

Then, and this is the good bit, the team take on the weatherman, who’s wearing the goalie gloves. Conrad, Albright and Dempsey have no trouble scoring past him, Hahnemann’s effort suggests he’s best off in goal, Donovan nutmegs him, Onyewu does a stepover but the guy gets scared and runs away anyway, leaving Gooch an empty net. Unfortunately, Brian Ching’s pitiful effort makes the weatherman look like Peter Schmeichel.

How long do you think it’s going to take for Ching to live that down? The foot stop, no less.

It’s sad to think that the last shot before the world cup taken by Ching American soil was missed. I hope he does not carry that bad luck with him to Germany.

Great promo! They seem to be very level headed and ready to handle their business. I hope they have a good showing w/all that ’star power’
