Friday night news nuggets: Listen up, Sunil edition

I said before that I was going to offer more thoughts on the Brazil match, but after reading all of your fantastic comments I realized we all know what the problems are and there’s no use in rehashing events that were so terrible and redundant and terribly redundant. So — let’s move on to some nuggety goodness:

-The image you see to the left is genius. I want to put that on a billboard outside USSF headquarters in Chicago. [Project 2010]

-Beasley admitted that even he knows he sucks, apologizes to teammates. [Goal]
(Seriously though — kudos to DaMarcus Beasley for doing this. It takes a big man to actually say that out loud. But I still don’t want him on the pitch.)

-Freddy Adu would like you to know that he can defend, damnit. Respect The Adu! [Fred's Twitter]

-Jermaine Jones will become available to the US MNT on August 2. [Soccer365]

-If you’re wondering whether the USSF knows that everyone has turned on Bob, look no further than the comments on the OFFICIAL US MNT Blog’s post about how we might all get transported into a magical netherworld and the US might advice in the Confederations Cup. [US MNT Blog]

-Join the Facebook group. [Facebook]

-Or, if you prefer to be more direct, contact the USSF here or get your coach fired the way your granddaddy did it by writing to Sunil at this address:

It would be a joke if Beasley ever played for the national team again but we all know he will be back.

It’s still possible that we don’t make the World Cup. KILL ME NOW!

Freddy’s twitter is bringing up my favorite points. How can you say he’s bad defensively when you haven’t really seen him play in a year? I had no qualms with the defense he played in the hole at the Olympics.

I wouldn’t just like that end Beasley’s international career. The thing is Bob needs to play the players in form, but he doesn’t. He also never tries anything new. He goes with the same old guard. Beasley not playing at Rangers getting plenty of playing time even after he’s shown this summer he doesn’t have “it” right now. But then tells Freddy he needs to play more with his club, but yet doesn’t give the kid a chance. He’s inconsistent, horrible with player selection and tactics. And since we don’t have world elite players in our pool we can’t afford to make mistakes tactically and with player selection and that’s why we need a new coach who can get things done tactically and selecting the appropriate players.

Disgusting!!! I have read the articles and blogs over the past few days. Bob Bradley must go! If you don’t get that then you don’t understand the game and you shouldn’t be a fan. Go watch some nice US sports like baseball.

As many have been talking, Adu and Torres would be nice to see out there for the final game.

I will go out of my way here and defend Dempsey. I know for a fact that Dempsey is a serious competitor. He takes every game as serious as possible. But when your coach is starting the likes of Beasley and some of your players are playing like chumps (Clark and Klesjtian), as opposed to Fulham which could beat the US National Team in its current form, I would get discouraged. You want to win. You want to play as a team and have an “intelligence” out there, starting from the top, Bob Bradley, aka Coach, or so we think.

When you are a player and you are out on the field and you are starting to understand that your coach is not all there, you begin to wonder WTF is going on. I have had that happen to me where our coach took the slowest defender on our team and put him as sweeper. Are you kidding me? As I was an attacking middy, you get a little gun shy going forward knowing if one guy remotely gets near your sweeper your team is screwed.

Anyway, all I am trying to say is Dempsey is an international professional And also, if you think of him trying to draw fouls and you think he should get up quicker, BS! I think we need more acting on our team to maintain more possesion and draw more cards. You may hate it but it is absolutely necessary and all world class teams do it. LEARN IT, KNOW IT, LIVE IT!!!

I am so disgusted by what has happened it is impossible to explain in words. I was playing the other day with people from Africa and Latin America and one dude from Africa was telling me there were 50 teams better than the USA. I was soo disgusted after the Brazil game, what could I say? Nothing. I didn’t say a damn thing. I laughed (in a disgusted manner) and agreed.

I would be willing to play an attacking style from Sunday’s game going forward and expose our defense (which is decent imo) and continue to play an attacking style and lose every single game for the next 8 months and miss the world cup. I know, I know, it would in the medium term (10 years) set USA soccer back in terms of fan base and possible players, but I think the players that do come up would try and develop their attacking skills more.

I think it would be worth it. At the youth level abroad, strikers who arent the best fall back to midfield. Midfielders who arent the best fall back to defense. Defenders at the youth level normally don’t make it with the exception of larger players. This is how you develop ball control throughout the field, e.g., Brasil, Italia, Espana, etc…

I’m soo tired of this conservative BS. I would like to win a world cup before 2040.

Good luck to the powers that be and may they play Adu and Torres on Sunday. PLEASE!!!

And just to add to my previous post, when the Coach and Coaches are “unorganized” and making poor decisions, it does have a RIPPLE effect throughout the team. Players feel cheated and insulted by poor decision making. IMO the reason for Dempsey’s lack of production.

And get rid of the politics in US soccer. It is there. I don’t know how pervasive it is, but it is there. If no one thinks so, I have two words for you. Demarcus Beasley. Glorified Runner…No way should he get time on the USMNT.

Yes, I know Spector went from striker to defender. The point is it almost always takes attacking players and puts them back levels as they get older b.c there is almost always someone else out there.

There was something else but I forgot what it was.

Adu and Torres. Aaaahummmmm!!!! (meditating)
