News Nuggets of The Day

First off I want to thank everyone who came out (in the internet sense) and participated in our first live blog the other night of the Guatemala game. There seemed to be a good amount of interest, and a few complaints, so we’re going to make sure to throw it back in your face again when the Cuba game rolls around.
With that being said…
Here’s some of today’s news from around the world of US Soccer…
- Soccer By Ives is reporting that Maurice Edu has secured his work permit and his move to Rangers is now complete. Once again, I will state that this is really a great move for Mo and came at just the right time as he is trying to make that step up to earning a regular spot with the USMNT.
- If you are looking for some comic relief on this Friday afternoon, read Ives musings on the Guatemalan media and their ridiculous questions after the match had ended here.
- While Bob Bradley does receive his fair share of criticism, one thing is for sure, this team sure knows how to score of their set pieces, even if it’s the only way they know how to score. Props to Bease and Boca. Now about that frontline scoring…
- You can keep an eye on one of those young hopefuls for forward, Jozy Altidore, today at 3:30 ET when Villarreal take on Udinese in their last friendly before the real deal of La Liga gets underway. I’m not seeing a stream available as of now, but you find one make sure to drop it in the comments. VillarrealUSA.org should have some type of coverage going, if not check the pbp threads on BigSoccer.
- Also, Monsieur Freddy Adu decided to add his two cents to the blogosphere, with his new AS Monaco blog. Is it just me, or does Freddy sound more giddy than Connor geting Aquadots for his fifth birthday about his move to Monaco. “AQUA-DAWTS!!!! OOOH HOW WONDERFUL”

So I take it Jozy is not being loaned out or odds are he will down the road just not right now?

Did Jozy see any time in this game?

Yup, came in as a sub for Benedict Rossi. Villarreal lost 1-0, giving them four consecutive defeates to close out the preseason. Nice!
