Wednesday morning news nuggets: Gameday edition

A few things to note ahead of tonight’s match:
-Jay DeMerit is back in England due to his groin strain, but Gooch will be available tonight. [Yahoo!]
-Edgar Castillo has been cleared to play for the US MNT and is now available for selection (though obviously not for tonight). Jermaine Jones’ clearance is being held up because FIFA is still waiting on information from the German Football Federation. [Goal]
-Check back here around kick off tonight for running match thoughts. Not a full blown live blog, but I will be sharing my joyous and/or enraged ramblings as the game plays out. See you then.

I would like to see an attacking style with good midfielders…I say let Torres play and move dempsey in the middle with Feilhaber in the center and leave Bradley Jr on the bench. I think Dempsey could be a very good central attacking middy….
That is what I would like to see. Also, Cherundolo, Gooch, Spector and BocaNegra in the back.

I don’t want to see Dempsey play as a CM. Part of a CMs job is to defend and stop the other team from having possession in the middle of the field. Dempsey has shown that he has no idea how to defend. I agree he would add to the attack greatly, but I think he is too much of a liability with his defensive skills. If they were to play with 5 in the midfield I could see Dempsey playing that attacking style but I would rather see 2 forwards than 5 midfields.

I think Dempsey needs to be tested a little bit in the middle. Give him the responsibility of playing practically the most important position on the field and see how he responds.
Take the chance!!!
