Wednesday News Nuggets: Yup, saw that one coming…

February 18th, 2009 | By: Brooks Peck | 3 Comments »

-Sounds like Landycakes won’t be staying with Bayern Munich after all. Says their chairman:

“Donovan is an interesting player. But when you have Klose, Toni and Olic already under contract, we think the fourth player [striker] should really be a young player with perspective.”

Awesome. So why’d you bring him over in the first place? [Soccernet]

-And yeah, The Great Criswell called it (except for the friendlies success, which Bayern obviously isn’t counting, either.)

-Want to see an in depth statistical analysis of the Mexico match that goes beyond a math nerd’s wet dream? [USsoccer.com]

-After scoring two against Mexico, Michael Bradley scored again for Gladbach. Tell me again why Bob doesn’t use him as an attack midfielder? [SBI]

-Jonah Freedman argues that Sacha put in his best MNT performance ever against Mexico. Interesting. [SI]

I feel like even though Landon won’t be getting his Bayern move…he’ll get one to some team in Europe. Please?

And maybe Landon can hire Baby Bradley to destroy the Bayern chairman.

Why would Bayern not retain him at least til the end of the season. I know his loan deal is up but just like Beckham Donovan has made it clear he wants to play in Europe. Why would Bayern Munich put Donovan on their champions league roster unless they plan on losing in the round of 16? I could see Donovan moving to another club after the Confederations Cup if he shows well. At any rate I think it’s too quick to judge whether this attempt at Europe is a success or not.

Don’t forget, Landon is American. There is not much love for Amercians overseas. Now, if Landon were German, he’d easily make any German Team.
