She’s sick, I’m sick, Everyone’s sick: Rapinoe replaces Heath for the Algarve Cup

Portugal, as Cat Whitehill sees it
To be fair, I’m merely battling a hangover as a result of last night’s karaoke extravaganza – which you would already know about if you follow me on twitter. (warning: I rarely tweet about football). The USWNT made a somewhat ironic move this week as the formerly ill Megan Rapinoe replaced the now ill Tobin Heath on the Algarve Cup roster.
The team just arrived in Portugal, as seen by the photographic evidence above. Their first game is on the 24th against Iceland so this USWNT World Cup Blog update will merely serve to highlight the random fluff musings seeping out of Portugal. Lessie… Yael Averbuch informs us everyone must pee in a cup every morning (privacy advocates be damned!). Oh, and she kinda also maybe whishes Pia Sundhage was her mom? Weird. Moving on. Heather O’Reilly, as a native New Jersey-an, was asked her opinion of the hit tv phenomenon Jersey Shore:
I think I’m proud of the state of New Jersey in terms of a lot of things. I loved growing up there, I have a lot of great friends, a lot of great memories, a lot of great soccer played in New Jersey. Not as proud of the show Jersey Shore . But at the same time, I lived the Jersey Shore. That was me in high school down there, rockin’ out at the beach. So I don’t have to watch it on television, that’s for sure.
Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the official guidette of the USWNT.
In other, much more important and relevant news, WPS released their 2010 schedule and in it is a break the weekend of May 22 “for national team commitments and 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying games” which of course leads me to wonder, does it really only take a weekend to qualify for the Women’s World Cup?
