We missed you, Tobin Heath

July 22nd, 2009 | By: Melissa | 4 Comments »

I think it’s all but over for the USWNT in 2009. The Wednesday Canada game is the last one listed on the US Soccer schedule for this year. Someone somewhere mentioned a friendly against Germany in the fall. But I think that’s it. And with Wednesday’s game, the US beat Canada for the third time when Christine Nairn scored one of the most awkward goals I’ve ever seen. That’s cap #1 with the senior team for a girl who has yet to play a single game for Penn State. It’s either gonna be a bright future for her or she’ll get some horrible injury and become a lawyer or a news anchor or a phlebotomist. Speaking of, Tobin Heath is back on the roster which is fantastic. She’s got the crazy foot skills and vision that makes her a real creative playmaker. I think she’s going to solidify her position with this team well before 2011. Here she is nutmegging two Canadians from Sunday.

On the other hand, Christine Sinclair, did not score her 100th goal for Canada but she does return to the Bay Area to face Los Angeles on Thursday in WPS play where she could score a goal and prevent LA from taking the WPS season title for yet another week.

I was on board with Tobin when I saw her as a Freshmen on the UNC team. She’s great and I was hoping for her to be the future the US Women’s team. With the support she’s getting from Pia I’m hoping to see a lot more of her.

She is so much fun to watch. She makes me actually want to start watching the USWNT again.

You stopped? I watch the USWNT over the Mens because I don’t like to see whining and flopping, I like to see soccer. I noticed a long time ago that the biggest babies in soccer are the Men, so I watch the Women.
