Yeah I have heard about the Castillo possibility – let’s cap him ASAP in injury time of a qualifier just to seal the deal. Confederations Cup News: Fabio Cannavaro is out for the game against the US. His backup, Legrottaglie, is also in doubt. Good news considering that Italy’s central defenders looked real shaky against New Zealand.

With the new rule, I would imagine some phone calls are being placed to Edgar Castillo. Doesn’t seem like Jones fills much of a need although it effectively takes Pablo Mastroeni out of the pool so there’s that. A natural LB like Castillo would be a big deal. We’ll see.

This poses a lot of interesting questions I think. First of all, can he fit in quickly to this world cup cycle? He will not be able to play in the Gold Cup, so he will have to get up to speed during qualifiers and friendlies. Also, what does this do to Edu? I think Edu is very good and would be our first choice CDM. Should he be a CB for the national team, maybe?
