Subotic Allegedly Wants to Defy Daddy

November 13th, 2008 | By: Carter Daly | 13 Comments »

We meet again, Neven Subotic.

In what is turning into one of my personal favorite bi-weekly soccer sagas of international proportions, we have another hint, clue, rumor, or whatever you would like to call the following “story” on Neven Subotic.

In addition to earning the praise of Rafael Van Der Vaart (the most enjoyable name to say in all of soccer) for being maybe the best player in the Bundesliga so far this year, this Goal.com article has the following to say…

“while Subotic remains eligible for Bosnia, Serbia and the United States. His father has made clear he would like his son to play for Serbia, but Subotic is said to favor a return to U.S. colors.”

Papa don’t preach, Neven’s keepin’ his America! Ok, maybe not so fast, but if so; smart kid that Neven Subotic. Maybe he is finally seeing how hard it is to turn down a guaranteed World Cup every four years and the possibility for soccer stardom in America.

So there you go. Subotic is “said” to favor a return to play in the USA strip. What more confirmation do you need people?

Neven do what’s best for you and play for The Stars and Stripes. World Cup every four years as opposed to maybe a WC every for years. Good chance at starting as opposed to minimal chance of starting. If Neven was a midfielder I’d advise him on maybe a Serbian move, but good young Central Defenders is what The U.S. lacks and Neven strengthens that greatly.

Boca-Neven-Onyewu-Pearce…

I’m not impressed with Dolo… I know Pearce isn’t the best but I think he is better for now and the long run… but I think with that back line the US Defense would be steller… along with one of the best keepers in Europe… TIMMY!!!

If you don’t Dolo how in the world would you take Peace as a left footed player as your right back when we have a few guys who can fill that role better. For example, Spector, Wynne, and in a pinch Orozco.

Dolo is a starter for a midtable team in Germany and Pearce is getting Adu minutes. Hmmm easy pick for me. Wynne might be ready by 2010 but if not it will be Dolo or Simek. Simek was getting interest from a lot of premiership clubs before he was injured. AstonVilla was ready to make a move for him and he was injured right after that. I hope for Wynne to get better with his crosses and ball control because he is a freak athlete and could be making a move to Europe if he develops.

Yeah but the midtable Germany play is different than the international play… I’ve liked how Pearce plays. I didn’t think of Simek… he might be our best option for 2010 at right back.

Neven scored two goals off set pieces in the first 27 minutes of Dortmund’s bundesliga match today. That gives him 5 goals in 12 appearances this year. He has also anchored a defense that has given up just 18 goals in 13 games this season. This kid has ridiculous talent…

I like how B doesn’t like Dolo because being a starter on a midtable club in Germany isn’t good enough for hum, but being a fringe player on a second division club is okay with him. Also playing a guy out of position is cool too. kyle good cal on Simek I didn’t think of him either. For the love of God let’s not see Hejduk there ever again. I think we can all agree on that.

This new article says that Subotic is going to pick Serbia after all:

But seriously, If he did play for the U.S, we could have the best set-piece team in the world!

It seems like subotic changes his mind weekly…until his 21st birthday or if he caps for a senior national team I won’t believe any report.

Michael Bradley scored the game-tying goal against Bayern today! He looked like Borussia’s best player today.
