Copa America Invitation On The Way

According to this A.P. report the US will receive an official invitation to Copa America 2007 sometime today. Whether Sunil Gulati RSVPs or not is another matter.

Gulati also says that “sometime in the November period we expect to name a coach,” and that he has four or five (four and a half?) serious candidates for the job (from both within and without the US.) Gulati has apparently discussed the Copa America situation with all these candidates.

The situation is a bit messy due to the Copa America’s proximity to the Gold Cup (the former begins two days after the latter.)
