Klinsmann Pulls Out
Fairly official word is that Jurgen Klinsmann has withdrawn from the (extremely slow) race to become the next US coach.
Seems a US Soccer official let this info slip to an AP reporter on condition of anonymity, with an official announcement expected very soon.
Seems Klinsmann and US Soccer failed to reach agreements over both how much money and how much authority Klismann would receive.

Question for the USSF:
Who do you think you are?

It seems obvious you have grossly overestimated your clout.
Please stop screwing around with these power games. I want to do as well as we can in the Copa America!
Heck, might as well hire il Bruce’ back… Geez.
I’m so disappointed.

I get the sense that Klinsmann is really trying to position himself for 2008. He could go back to coach Germany or come on to lead a team like the US through the end of qualifying. Even with Steve Sampson as coach, the US should qualify for 2010 easily. Unfortunately, a Steve Sampson like coach will lead to France 98 like results.

The USA special olympics team could qualify for 2010. Too bad Canada is going to COMPLETELY DESTROY EVERYTHING IN THEIR PATH.

This is absolutely devastating. If Klinsmann was willing to take the job and we didn’t meet his requests, I am furious. If this is Sunil Gulati’s fault, he should go home and leave the position to someone who has the proper ability and conviction required to get the job done. When you have a spectacular opportunity, you take it. That’s a rule. If this was a money issue, we are the wealthiest country in the world. If this is an authority issue, the USSF doesn’t have enough clout to try to push coaches like Klinsmann around. You know how you get clout USSF??? BY HIRING COACHES LIKE KLINSMANN!!!!!!!!!!

This is ridiculous. I am so tired of the USSF. We have junior talent and nothing else. Once our players get to the senior team level they fall into the black hole that is the USSF. To actually have an opportunity to play Copa America and not be already training for it is unforgivable. The USSF should be using the Copa as an meet and greet to have consistent friendlies with the best in SA. We should also be playing our enemies across the border all the time in all age groups. We need to follow their (Mexico’s) example in trying to get to the elite level not continue to schedule friendlies once every eight months against the Denmarks and Scotlands of the world.

What a joke!!!! Who hired Sunil anyways. Let’s start talking to him and get him fired for incompetance. How far have US coaches taken us so far. Right!!! Not to the top. We need to get some experience from the top levels of soccer not from MLS. Our players recognize this and are working at moving into the top leagues. How come the people in charge of the USFF (FOOTBALL) DON”T?
Tell me when they fire Sunil. I am going to watch the EPL, screw the MLS. Advertisers, are you listening.

We need an aggressive ,attacking ,fresh new style to bring USA soccer to the lvl where it should be! and another thing since the World Cup - top 10 Team to out of the Top 30 - Sunil quit now please! 6 Months since Arena and no progress what so ever! Sunil is running USA soccer the way Cinaglia ran the Cosmos!
