News of the Day

A few news items today…

-Peter Nowak was officially announced as coach of the U-23 Olympic Squad for the 2008 games in Bejing as expected. I got to thinking of the squad a little bit more and another player I really want to see is Stuart Holden (the American (sorta) Beckham). I say sorta because Stuart has a chance to play for the Scotland national team, so I hope he gets called up even sooner than 2008 to be cap tied to the States. Great young player who delivers a mean dead ball.

-Today Brian McBride was named captain of Fulham FC. Congratulations to Brian on continuing to be a great representitive overseas of what American Soccer is all about and can become one day. I know he is the only current American captain in the prem., Claudio wore the Citeh armband for a while before he came home, can you guys think of any other Captain America’s in the prem or anywhere else in Europe?

-Sounds like the Szetela deal is not as close as I thought yesterday. Just to throw this out there, Shep Messing, Danny’s agent and Red Bull New York tv personality, has really been pissing the hell out of me recentley, always seeming to bash the same thing over and over again until you want to carve out his larynx with a rusty butter knife.

Putting the damper on this doesn’t help. Sure that’s irrational, it’s obviously not his fault, but in my estimation, being rational just makes you the first cousin of a pussy. That doesn’t sound very nice does it?

Anyways, my boy (not really, but that’d be kinda cool) Ives broke the story the other day and I’m sticken’ with him on this one. Remember, he was the one to say the Adu deal was imminent before it “fell apart”, and then happenned a few days later.
