U-17’s Eliminated by Germany

August 30th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 2 Comments »

Germany is a killer for the United States in knockout roudns of World Cups. Sure, this does not compare at all to 2002, but its a decent way to start a post.

The USA lost 2-1, the 1 being another Mykell Bates goal, to the Germans this morning. All in all you could say it is what the young yanks deserved after their awful start to the much anticipated tournament.

I would say Maykell Bates was the best player for the United States throughout the tournament, although that is a somewhat dubious award when you only win one match. It will be interesting to see if any of these youths garner any international club attention after this tournament, my guess is it won’t be much with that showing.

Expect the USA roster for the Brasil friendly to be announced after this weekend. Who do you want to see there?

I just hope Bradley doesn’t play eddie johnson over altidore or european talent. I’m so tired of johnson…I don’t recall a time when he has scored.

Johnson scored a penalty against Argentina in the Copa America, but I agree Altidore is on fire right now. Plus scoring goals for Kansas City is not the same as scoring them in Europe!
