USA Coach Decision Expected In November

September 28th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 4 Comments »

November 2006 is a big voting month in America. There’s the Congressional Elections on the 7th, but more importantly “US Soccer directors are expecting a vote to confirm Gulati’s coaching choice (and the contractual terms) at their next meeting on Nov. 12 in Frisco, Texas, during MLS Cup weekend.”

So at least now we’ve got some idea of a timetable, even if it’s only a rumour.

Everyone has got to read this story in the NY Times at http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/27/sports/soccer/27soccer.html?_r=1&oref=slogin ; mainly about our one time coach Alkis Panagoulias and how he thinks we should hire an American for the job.

I know I am a little late for this blog, but just read that Mexico wants Klinsmann. Go, USA, get him… Klinsmann is learning Spanish (read that somewhere else a while ago). But Spanish will help him in California as well, after all we have great Mexican soccer players here too. It makes sense to me that Klinsmann coaches the USA. Why uproot his family> The 2year commute to Germany was enough.

Roland Eitel told Bild am Sonntag newspaper Klinsmann was still unsure what his future held, but this guarantees that if he chooses either the US or Mexico (and let’s be fair, both have their advantages) the losing bidder will have an extra reason to hate him.
