Slightly Off-Topic But Something To Think About

If you are a US soccer fan, then you are likely aware of the current turmoil at the LA Galaxy camp. Jonah Freedman probably summarized it best in a recent Sports Illustrated article. And while the team’s sliding record is a definite cause for concern, I bet a lot of this strife stemmed from good ol’ Abel Xavier speaking his mind to the press after he was waived from the team a few weeks ago. And Xavier did not have kind words for his ex-coach, Ruud Gullit. Starting to sound familiar? A recent comment over at The La Galaxy Offsides quoted an article (I’m hoping to get the original url) where Gullit publicly fired insults back at Xavier. And even players Chris Klein and Landon Donovan expressed concern.

I’m not generally one to jump to conclusions but I’ll be watching very intently to see where this story goes…

In other news, the USWNT slept and ate a lot of food in preparation for their first game tomorrow.
