Where Did Gabe Go?

Remember Gabe Ferrari?
Yeah, me neither.
But a friend was telling me he used to be quite the teen sensation across message boards and the like. He was 18 when he left the Red Bull New York Youth Program to sign with Serie A club Sampdoria, where he first gained fame by consistently making the bench for their league matches as soon as he arrived on Italian soil. He turned heads by performing well and scoring in a few youth tournaments for Sampdoria.
Next thing you know, the U-20 World Cup in Canada is fast approaching, and look who snuck in the backdoor in the last month’s lead up to the tourney, earning a roster spot by scoring three of his four appearances under Rongen’s boys.
At this point, people were tossing him into their 2010 rosters, saying he could challenge Jozy for the crown of the Great American Striker we have all been waiting for. Rongen kept Gabe glued to the pine for the better part of the tournament, only giving him a late substitutes role in the Uruguay match.
Gabe came in on the 81st minute, in the midst of one of Freddy’s magic shows that he put on throughout the whole tournament. Anyways, Freddy burns a defender or two on the right wing, and slots it to a wide open Gabe no more than 10 yards from the goal, and he tops the ball harmlessly to the keepers feet.
That was the last I saw of him.
Seemingly engulfed in the inner depths of Sampdoria, no longer does one read of him every week on the internet.
Where has Gabe gone?

He’s playing with the Sampdoria Primavera (Youth) side… He’s played a few games this month (Jan 08)
It’ll be tough for him to move up because Sampdoria’s got some great forwards ahead of him. He needs to get transferred.
