US Soccer Wrap Up

November 6th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 2 Comments »

Contrary to what you may think, things actually do happen in the US Soccer landscape, just not recently. But low and behold, today we have some news for your reading pleasure…

null

Today Benfica paid the price for not putting their terrace hero Adu in, losing to Celtic 1-0 today during the first day of Champions League Match day 4. Don’t let it happen again Camacho, or you will have eighteen pist off Yanks-Abroad live streamers from BigSoccer on your ass.

Tomorrow in Champions League action, DaMarcus Beasley will meet up with (supposedly) his good buddy Ronaldinho at the Nou Camp for the second of the Barca/Rangers matchups. With all do respect for our yank, don’t expect another scoreless draw Rangers.

It came and went quietly, but today was actually Jozy Altidore’s 18th birthday. Don’t freak out too much. Although today it was made known that Newcastle was the latest Euro side to give the kid a look recently, I think Jozy will stick around for at least part of the next Red Bull New York campaign. It is going to be fun though watching the Jozy transfer mill spin. Could be like Adu times six. Happy birthday Jozy, hope you got something better than just a visit from a few Geordies.

Today it was announced that the final round of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be held in Los Angeles, Tampa and Nashville. Nothing better than Country Music (thanks Jake) and footy. I’m actually pretty pumped for this thing to get going. We will get to see our U-20 studs back in action and for more than six minute increments at a time.

Come on, Carter! Elvis lived in Memphis; Nashville is the home of country music.

My bad Jake, you are right.

I should probably know that because there is way too much country music in my house sometimes.
