If we can’t see it, does that mean it really happened?
The USWNT arrived in Portugal on February 26th to prepare for their first Algarve Cup match against Denmark on March 4. This particular game starts at 7am EST and as far as I can tell, will not be broadcast on tv or the internet. I searched all the usual places and so far, came up with nothing. NOTHING. A recent US Soccer article on the event is full of trivia as well as the team’s Algarve Cup schedule:
March 4 against Denmark at Municipal Stadium; Lagos 12 p.m. / 7 a.m EST
March 6 against Iceland at Parque Desportiva da Nora; Ferreiras 3 p.m. / 10 a.m EST
March 9 against Norway at Municipal Stadium; Albufeira 3 p.m. / 11 a.m EST
March 11 Placement Match TBD
The groups:
Group A
Germany, Sweden, China, Finland
Group B
USA, Norway, Demark, Iceland
Group C
Portugal, Poland, Wales, Austria
A few European teams are using this competition as a bit of a Euro’s warm-up. But with WPS about to start, the US doesn’t have any other major tourneys on the books and there are only “about a dozen full international matches” scheduled for this year. Studio 90 has a new video from Portugal that’s not tremendously exciting except for the interview with Pia who says she plans to use this low-key year to experiment a bit. And she’s also gone and hired Hege Riise to the coaching staff… although Riise was already there during the Olympics so this news isn’t brand new or anything.
I will continue to scour the internets for a video link and if anyone finds anything, please let us know in the comments!

I’ve looked around for video/TV coverage too…but nada. You would think a camera crew would like to take a nice trip to the beautiful Portugal coast.
PS – Melissa, can you drop me a note at my email address if you’re going to the WPS Inaugural Game?
