We lost

By the half, the score was 1-0 to Sweden. Then Shannon Boxx scored a 90th minute goal to take the Final to penalties. And SEVEN ROUNDS LATER Heather Mitts hit the post and cost the US the win. This game also just happened to be Mitts’ 100th cap so perhaps not the best way to remember such a prestigious milestone. And to top it all off, there’s a recent interview with her over at Center Circle where she – yes yes in a bit of a tongue in cheek way – explains why she only has two international goals:
Talk to Pia! She’s got to put me closer to the goal! I just keep moving further and further back on set plays. Put me in coach!
Hrrrmmmmmphhhhlht. But seriously. Congrats to Heather. Congrats to the team. And good luck to everybody as they report to their WPS clubs.
This also means that there are no new USWNT games scheduled for the foreseeable future (this news may change) so I’ll be back over at WPS Offside attempting to keep up with the news from each team. Do stop by… say hi… etc etc etc.

The good news: it was an exciting game, even on MatchTracker.
The bad news: our world-class team failed to score on 4 of 7 PKs.
I felt bad for Solo, who had an incredible game…

I like her dress she is attractive.
