Adu Transfer Saga Update
We have two new important facts in the transfer saga of Freddy Adu.
The first is the report comming from Grant Wahl who says that Freddy will recieve a starter offer from Benfica with a transfer fee of 2.5 million. Grant thinks this is a low ball offer and I agree. I cannot see the league selling Adu for that little and I think as negotiations persist with the number of clubs reportedley interested the fee will be driven up.
Which brings us to our other important piece of evidence, this from Stephen Goff.
“*MLS wants $7.5 million for Freddy Adu’s rights. Benfica is a player, but that fee might be too high for them and others”
That fee seems about right for him, as does Goff’s thought that the fee may be too high for some potential suitors. If Benfica is not willing to raise there offer maybe the likes of Celtic or Parma (with Rossi becomming more and more out of the question) can give the league the green it needs to sign Adu.
Let’s keep a watch on how this plays out and hope that the league gets a suitable offer so Freddy doesn’t have to stick around much longer. He is ready for the move and the league is too.
