Egypt vs. USA Friendly Canceled
It was certainly likely, but now it’s official. Due to the ongoing political turmoil in Egypt, US Soccer has announced that our friendly set for February 9th has been canceled. There were supposedly efforts made to move the match to another regional stadium, but in the end, it’s off. With so little time to plan, it has also been decided that the US will not try to schedule a different match on that matchday. So, our next international will be the friendly vs. Argentina at the Meadowlands on March 26, followed closely by the March 29 friendly vs. Paraguay in Nashville. That last one should be interesting, attendance-wise.
World Cup Blog sends out its deepest condolences to the families of those hurt and killed in Egypt, and we hope that the situation is resolved as quickly and peacefully as possible, and leads to a lasting set of democratic reforms in the country.
