Is This the USA Home Jersey for World Cup 2010? (I Say Yes)

Jersey focused blog Football Shirt Culture has published what they claim to be leaked images of the new USA home shirt, to be worn at World Cup 2010. FSC is pretty reliable with this stuff, so I’m inclined to believe.

First of all, don’t worry. Team USA won’t be sponsored by footballshirtculture.com this summer. That’s just the blog branding their images so that everyone knows where they come from. A smart move obviously, but makes it harder to get a feel for what the jersey looks like. But try and ignore the additional text if you can.

I’m thinking… I like. It’s very clean. Very simple. Maybe a little too simple?

To be honest I was half expecting that the sash motif would be a different color to rest of the kit (maybe a red or blue) as with the USA away shirt, but seems Nike have gone with just having the outline of the sash.

I can live with that. Would have been nice if the two jerseys were different mixes of red, whit and blue. But at least this design (assuming it’s real) will prevent the US players looking like Miss World contestants while competing in South Africa.

What do you think? Is this the real home jersey? If so, so you like?

It is very simple, but that isn’t always bad. For instance, the English Jerseys look nice with their simplicity. I do not think I would have liked it had the stripe been blue or red. The whole “Miss America” or “boy scouts” thing wouldn’t help the team’s (already pretty bad) reputation.

The only thing that puzzles me are the red stripes on the end of the sleeves.

The horizontal stripe is a Nike thing. This year it’s on all their world cup kids.

i like it if it is the real one. ive always thought all white looks really good. it’s fresh and clean looking, very pristine. it would be cool with white shorts and if the players wore white boots

Much better than the pageant contestant away shirt. The red stripes though seem like an afterthought bought at an office supply store.

The USMNT doesn’t have a pretty bad reputation Jean-François, where do you get that from? As for the shirt Retro look meets new school. Is it my favorite jersey of all time no, but you really can’t get a true feel for how a jersey looks until you put numbers, names on it as well as how it looks with shorts and socks.

the current jersey is much nicer in my opinion. this isnt terrible but i dont think ill be buying. ill keep my outdated white and grey stripe kit.

It’s supposed to be a tribute to the 1950 World Cup team, the only American team to ever beat England in competitive play. It was also the very first time England played in the World Cup.

Not a big fan of this years Miss America jerseys. Altough I will say that I have not purchased any of the recent Jerseys. I was more for either the 2002 type jersey or something different like the blue jersey from 1994 with the stars. Yes I know that most people hated it but it was something new and different.
