Substitution at the 75th Minute

June 25th, 2007 | By: Carter Daly | 1 Comment »

Bob shoots me the look at the 75th minute of a scoreless world cup tie against El Tri. It seems that Mr. Bianca has ruined his french manacure from the previous day’s spa outing with Crazy Cruise and Becks, and the team is in need of a burner. No, I’m not talking about the Grown-Ass-Man Eddie Johnson, this guy has a favorite videogame, and a touch to boot. As Landon walks towards the bench in disgust he hands me the captain’s armband, my time is now.

From this point on I will be taking over the duty of blogger for the USA World Cup Team Blog. I will fly the stars n’ stripes proudly as we trek through the beautiful science that is the four year world cup cycle towards the ultimate goal on the world’s stage. The summer has already started off with the taste of gold and a podium apperance (mmm pure aurum and rusty nails!) and hopefully there will be more of it to come. I’m lookin’ at you Freddy and Jozy.

Through the next hours and days you can expect to find a review of the classic come back in the Gold Cup final as well as a preview of Copa Slaughter Fest 2007 and the U-20 World Cup.

Just remember, the cycle never ends.
