Freddy Arrives to Open Arms Portugal

Today Freddy arrived at the airport in Portugal with his moms, looking like a big timer in his shades and Benfica scarvs.

Here’s a video of his arrival. It’s funny, just about a month ago, I was standing with Freddy in a different airport at the baggage claim at Newark. Freddy and Chris Seitz were on their way to pre U-20 World Cup training in a lead up to the friendly against Chile in Giants Stadium. When we saw him I was telling my buddy who I was with that pretty soon that munchkin over there in the shades was gonna tear up the U-20 World Cup and move on to a big European club.

Tough prediction right? Just call me Miss Cleo.

In other Yank transfer news, Eric Lichaj, a sophomore defender at UNC, left Chapel Hill and has signed a deal with Aston Villa of the Premiership.

The report says it is a “two year deal with options”.

Lichaj has experience with the U-17 and U-20 national teams.

This move for Lichaj is just another sign of the deeper growing talent pool that the United States has by having a somewhat under the radar player signing in the Premiership.
